Public Works Minister Plans Immediate Action on Flooding Ahead of Japan Freeway Project
Minister of Public Works Roland Layfette Giddings, aware of the severe inconvenience caused by flooding due to blocked drainage along the Freeport-Gabriel Tucker Bridge corridor, toured the area with a team of engineers. The tour aimed to explore swift interventions to alleviate these issues before the Japan Freeway extension project, managed by the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA), begins in October. Minister Giddings emphasized that the Ministry cannot wait for the Japanese project to start without taking reasonable government actions to ensure citizens can commute freely. Despite frustration with some citizens' careless waste disposal, which contributes to the problem, he assured the public that the Ministry would implement significant measures in the coming weeks. Minister Giddings reiterated his commitment to making a lasting impact on Liberia's infrastructure sector.
