FCG/GOPA Infra Pays Courtesy Call on Min Nyenpan

Southeastern Feeder Road Project Tops Discussion 
 
(Monrovia, February 20, 2018…..), the newly hired monitoring consultant FCG/GOPA of the Liberia Swedish Feeder Road Project Phase III (LSFRP) on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 paid a courtesy call on Public Works Minister Mobutu Nyenpan. 
 
FCG/GOPA replaces HIFAB who ran phase I and phase II of the project from 2009-2016 in Lofa, Bong and Nimba counties respectively. The Liberia Swedish Feeder Project is the Swedish government’s contribution towards the poverty reduction strategy of the Liberian government.    
 
Phase I and II of the project saw the rehabilitation/construction of more than 500 kilometers of farm to market roads. 
 
During the interacting discussion, Public Works Minister Mobutu Nyenpan thanked the delegation for what he termed as acquaintance visit as well as issues highlighted the commencement of Phase III of the project in the Southeast. 
 
He indicated that all contractual terms and agreement will be fully met, adding that his administration is keen on ensuring value for money for all government and partners’ related infrastructure projects.
 
For his part, LSFRP Project Director T. Oliver Zomonway informed the Minister that procurement work is on-going-with physical rehabilitation work expected to start mid-April. 
 
He said, the a total of 370 Kilometers of farm to market road will be rehabilitated in Grand Gedeh, RiverGee, Maryland and Grand Kru counties. The other aspect of the work, he stressed will entail maintenance and rehabilitation of roads already done in Lofa, Bong and Nimba counties.  
 
It can be recalled that on April 26, 2017, a bilateral funding agreement was signed between the Government of Liberia and its Swedish counterpart for LSFRP Phase III intended for Southeast. 
 
The cost of the project is put at US$ 21.6 M. When completed, the road project is expected to create access and increase local trade as well as reduces traveling times and cost. 
 
In a related development, the AFDB group in Liberia which is funding the Fish Town Harper high way pavement project has expressed its commitment and willingness to the continuous support of Liberia’s infrastructure development, with emphasis on roads and bridges. 
 
The bank delegation spoke on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 when it paid a courtesy on the new Public Works Minister at his office on Lynch Street. Mr. Prince Tambah, Senior Transport Infrastructure Engineer who spoke on behalf of the delegation  commended Min. Nyenpan on his preferment and reiterated the ADB’s commitment in partnering with Liberia in the its development drive.
