MPW Officially Signs Agreement for the Construction of the Freeport to Gabriel Tucker Bridge Corridor

After a productive week of engagements in Tokyo with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Eight-Japan Engineering Consultants Inc (EJEC), the Ministry of Public Works is pleased to announce that it has signed a JPY 2.45 billion contract with Dai Nippon Construction for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the dual carriageway Freeport–Gabriel Tucker Bridge (1.9 km) urban arterial corridor.
 
The contractor is expected to mobilize in May 2026, with civil works commencing in July 2026 for a 26-month implementation period.

This important project is financed through a 100% grant from the Government and people of Japan, and will significantly improve mobility while addressing the persistent flooding challenges along this critical corridor leading to the Gabriel Tucker Bridge.

Deputy Minister for Technical Services, Prince D. Tambah, who signed on behalf of the Ministry in Japan, spevifically thanked his  boss, Roland Lafette Giddings, Minister of Public Works, for his leadership in advancing this important infrastructure initiative.
