The Road Safety Action International in partnership with the Ministry of Public Works and other Stakeholders on Monday, March 10, 2025 commenced a three-day training/workshop for drivers at the Ministry of Public Works.

The Training is designed to provide drivers in the public sector with the required knowledge in road safety, thereby curtailing the risk of accidents.

The Training covers the fundamentals of the five (5) pillars of road safety, with key emphasis on the risk factors with topics such as:

  • Understanding Traffic Laws and Regulations,
  • Driver Response During Emergency Response,
  • Safety of Vulnerable Road Users safety,
  • Different Kinds of Road Accidents and how to avoid them, as well as
  • Safe Driving Behaviour

Making special remarks at the start of the Training, Public Works Minister Roland Layfette Giddings praised the Road Safety Action International (RSAI) for the partnership, noting that road safety education is crucial towards the mitigation of accident cases.

According to him, the Training will also pave the way for sustainable development in road safety and traffic management, stressing that Public Works remains committed to ensuring that road safety issues are given the needed attention.

For his part, the Executive Director of Road Safety Action International Eric Gabriel Jenn-Judgges said the move is to sensitize drivers in public institutions on the importance of road safety.

The Program directly supports the objectives of the Decade of Action for Road Safety which spans from 2021-2030 and seeks to halve national road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

RSAI is partnering with the Ministry of Transport (MoT) through the Road Safety Secretariat and the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) through the Infrastructure Implementation Unit to implement the project.
