
Minister Roland Layfette Giddings Says Government is Committed to Strengthening Federation of Road Transport Union of Liberia
- Announces the Setting up of Five Regional Maintenance Hubs
OMEGA, LIBERIA: Public Works Minister, Roland Layfette Giddings, addressing cross-sections of motorists under the banner Federation of Road Transport Union of Liberia on Monday in the Omega Community, said the need for a strengthened Public-Private Partnership is crucial towards Liberia's Road and Transport Facilitation Programmes.
Speaking on the topic: "The Importance of Road Transport in Enhancing Good Governance" at programs marking the National Convention of FRTUL, Minister Giddings asserted that no country can function effectively without a well structured and efficient Road Transport System.
According to him, the Road Sector Transport System contributes to Good Governance by enhancing economic growth and job creation, promoting social inclusion and public welfare, amongst others.
The Liberian Infrastructural Minister also reaffirmed the President's commitment towards the establishment of the Maintenance Hubs across the country, adding that the move is aimed at addressing the perennial issues of road maintenance that the country has faced over the years.
Also in attendance were other Stakeholders including the Liberia National Police, the Legislature, and County Representatives of the Federation of Road Transport Union of Liberia.
