Minister Roland Layfette Giddings Appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission
In a significant move aimed at strengthening the governance and oversight of Liberia’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, Minister Roland Layfette Giddings has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Liberia National Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Commission. This appointment underscores the Liberian government's commitment to promoting and regulating the development and management of essential WASH services.
Established in 2018, the Liberia National Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Commission stands as the country's principal authority on WASH issues. Its mandate includes the development and promotion of national agendas aimed at improving water, sanitation, and hygiene services to support the health, growth, and development of the Liberian population.
As Chairperson, Minister Giddings will lead the Commission in its strategic functions, which encompass overseeing the implementation of the Water Supply and Sanitation Policy, and fostering a collaborative environment among key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Mines & Energy, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Health, the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation, and other relevant government institutions.
