MPW WASH PROGRAM GAINS STEAM
As UNICEF Donates 3 Vehicles

The Ministry of Public Works’ Rural Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Program yesterday, May 19, 2015 received 3 brand-new Land Cruiser Jeeps.
The two Jeeps were donated by UNICEF and the Government of Netherlands.
Receiving the keys to the vehicles on behalf of his boss, Acting Minister of Public Works, Hon. Claude Langley thanked the UNICEF delegation for the donation.
Commenting further, the Public Works Acting Minister termed the donation as a serious impact on the Ministry of Public Works, noting that the vehicles will be used for the intended purpose.
He also assured the UNICEF team that regular maintenance works/services will be performed on the vehicles, something he said is key to the durability of the three vehicles.
Minister Langley said the main focus of the donation being to create access for clean water for children goes beyond a long way than one can imagine.
For his part, the UNICEF Country Representative, Mr. Sheldon Yett said he was very pleased to donate the vehicles to the Ministry of Public Works.
The UNICEF Country Representative who put the cost of the vehicles at a little of US$100,000.00 termed the donation as a key component of the Ministry of Public Works Rural Water program.
Mr. Yett noted that the purpose of the vehicles is to monitor WASH related programs across the country so that children everywhere can have access to safe drinking water and better sanitation program.
He however used the occasion to disclose plan by the UNICEF & Netherlands Government to invest over US$6 million dollars for WASH related programs in Liberia over the next 4 years.
